Coach Davis graduated in 1975 from De Soto High School where he played for Coach Gene Cozine. After graduating, he went on to play basketball at nearby Jefferson College and later attended Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State).
Returning home in 1979 to coach and teach, Coach Davis began his coaching career with the girls basketball program. This lasted one year. In 1983, he was hired as the 9th grade boys basketball coach. Then, in 1984, he was appointed to the Boy’s Varsity head coaching position which he currently holds.
During Coach Davis’ tenure as head basketball coach he has achieved an unbelievable record as one of the best coaches in Southeast Missouri. Attaining a winning percentage of over 70%, winning countless conference/district titles, and leading the Dragons to the Final Four in both 1993 and 2003, Coach Davis achieved a career 500 wins in the 2010-11 season.
Coach Davis and his wife Julie, who is a counselor at De Soto Jr. High School, have two children. Their son Tyson, a 2007 graduate of DeSoto, attends the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Their daughter Katey, a 2008 graduate of DeSoto, attends the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School and is pursuing a Medical Degree.
