Coach Hammond is a 2003 alumnus of De Soto High School. He participated in the basketball program all four years. His Junior year, he earned Honorable Mention All-Conference. His Senior year was a
knock-out year. He was recognized as 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team
All-District, 2nd Team All-Metro, Jefferson County Dream Team, and the team
finished 4th at the State Tournament.
To start his collegiate career, Coach Hammond signed on with St. Louis Community College-Meramec. He played the 03-04 and 04-05 seasons there. His second year, the team ranked third in the nation in the NJCAA. Transfering to Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL for the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons, he was recognized as 1st Team All-Conference both years, named to the All-Tournament Team, and voted MVP. Individually, he led the conference in scoring treys. As a team, the Beavers won the SLIAC Conference.
Staying in Carlinville, Coach Hammond served as Assisstant Coach for Blackburn during the 2007-2008 basketball season. Returning to his alma mater, he is currently helping out in his second year with the Dragons where he has been a huge asset for all teams involved in the program.
